The brass tacks of 3D printed garments at upcoming Blender Conference

The presentation will take an in-depth look at the work of fashion designer Danit Peleg, who creates elegant, feminine designs using the Blender platform 3D-printed technology.Rich Colburn, a stimulator engineer at Gerber Technology, said “One of the most amazing things about Blender is its versatility. This software has uses in just about every industry imaginable. Gerber is using Blender to create tools that accelerate and improve the clothing development process for both traditional and 3D printed clothing. With 3D, designers can create and adjust virtual sample garments and use animated characters to model them, saving vast amounts of time and costly materials.”

Colburn spoke last year at the Blender Conference, revealing an innovative virtual clothing design. This year’s talk will present an indepth study on how designers can use the technologies such as Blender to design digital clothing. Peleg recently created a five piece ready-to-wear womenswear collection using Blender software. Her work, combined with Gerber Technology’s presentation, will highlight how quick and seamlessly anyone can create a garment and get it to market with the aid of this technology. Peleg’s designs have been featured in the New York Times, Fashionista, Vogue Brasil, and on Who What Wear.Held annually in Amsterdam, the three-day Blender Conference draws hundreds of visitors from a wide variety of industries, including fashion, automobile design, animation, sports, gaming and more.
